The Gas Research Institute announced its newly created Canadiansubsidiary, GRI Canada, has been selected by Gas Technology Canadato manage a $5 million/year research, development andcommercialization program funded by the Canadian natural gasindustry.

All current GTC programs will be transferred to GRI, along withthe current program directors. Nearly half of the existing programrevenues are allocated for natural gas vehicle development, withthe balance divided among industrial, environmental andHVAC/appliance research. The new efforts will focus on offeringCanadian companies an expanded range of investment options.

Initially, GRI Canada will be governed by a three-member boardof directors composed of Robert Tessier, president and CEO, GazMetropolitain Inc., Montreal, Quebec; Bill Burnett, GRI senior vicepresident, RD&C Operations; and Vince Fiore, a managingdirector of GRI who led the efforts to form GRI Canada and serveson its board.
