As U.S. consumers warm to the prospect of purchasing a battery-powered electric vehicle (BEV), the Biden administration said it may propose a system that would push states and municipalities to reduce transportation-related greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

Earlier this month, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) announced a notice of proposed rulemaking to establish a framework for a state-by-state GHG tracking system.
