Two contract workers were treated for non-serious injuries and released following a fire that broke out Tuesday morning at Enterprise Products Partners LP’s Morgan’s Point marine terminal in La Porte, TX, along the Houston Ship Channel.

The fire occurred at about 10:15 a.m. CST in what is known as a meter run area of the facility, Enterprise spokesman Rick Rainey told NGI. The fire involved liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), but Rainey said he did not know specifically which LPG product. The terminal also handles crude oil, but crude product was not involved in the fire. The terminal is a loading site for barges, most of which carry natural gas liquids (NGL).

A pipeline running from the Mont Belvieu, TX, NGL facility, about 15 miles away, to the terminal was shut down as a precaution, Rainey said. It was not known if product that would flow on the line was re-routed from Mont Belvieu.

Rainey said he did not know whether an explosion preceded the fire. The cause of the incident was being investigated, and Rainey said he did not expect the fire to result in an extended outage at the terminal.
