El Paso Field Services said its Global Compression Project inthe San Juan Basin is now complete, providing producers with anadditional 40,000 horsepower of compression, new gas dehydrationfacilities and 54 miles of new pipeline looping.

The $50 million project lowered pressures on 70% of the wells inthe basin, extending the life of the producing fields and allowing130 MMcf/d of additional gas production to flow on El Paso’ssystem. Amoco Production, Burlington Resources and Conoco signedlong-term agreements to support the project.

The project uses state-of-the-art compression technology, featuring quiet no-emission, electric motors to drive thecompressors. Thermal oxidizers were installed on the gasdehydrators to virtually eliminate hydrocarbon emissions. Thecompressor sites are electronically monitored 24 hours per daythrough the company’s operations control center to maintain fieldbalances and maximize throughput.
