Duke Energy continued its organizational restructuring Tuesday, focusing on its pipeline and storage group, Duke Energy Gas Transmission (DEGT) and splitting it continent-wide into eastern and western divisions.

The company said Alan Harris, Theopolis Holeman and Greg Rizzo have been named executive vice presidents to oversee Duke Energy Gas Transmission East (DEGT East), the company’s natural gas pipeline-related operations in eastern North America. The three Houston-based senior managers will report directly to DEGT President and CEO Tom O’Connor, who took over his post in December.

DEGT’s western North American operations are to be led by Doug Haughey, who has been named president of DEGT West. In addition to continuing his oversight of the company’s pipeline and field services businesses in western Canada, Haughey added DEGT’s Canadian joint-venture interests and northern development projects to his responsibilities. He also reports directly to O’Connor and operates out of the company’s offices in Calgary, AB and Vancouver, BC.

Harris was previously senior vice president, strategic development and administration. In addition to maintaining his responsibilities for the company’s strategic development, planning and administration areas, He now has oversight of DEGT’s East Tennessee Natural Gas system and the company’s interests in the Gulfstream and Maritimes & Northeast natural gas pipelines.

Holeman was previously senior vice president, transmission and engineering. In addition to continuing his responsibilities for the company’s transmission, engineering and asset operations, He now has oversight of DEGT’s Ontario-based Union Gas natural gas transmission, storage and distribution business.

Rizzo was previously senior vice president of marketing and capacity management for DEGT’s U.S. operations. In addition to maintaining his previous responsibilities, He now has oversight of DEGT’s Texas Eastern Transmission and Algonquin natural gas pipeline systems as well as the Market Hub Partners high-deliverability natural gas storage business.

The new appointments followed on other recent organizational realignments. In December, the company named Robert T. Ladd as new president of Duke Energy North America (DENA) and moved O’Connor up from heading DEGT’s eastern operations to replace Bobby Evans as president of DEGT. Jim Donnell, formerly president of DENA, left the company, as did Harvey Padewer, group president of energy services. Evans was put in charge of the transition.

DENA’s operations were consolidated in Houston, with regional marketing offices also in Salt Lake City and Calgary. Curtis Davis was named senior vice president energy generation. Nancy DeSchane, promoted last August, is continuing as president and CEO of trading and marketing, including energy marketing and energy management. Kirk Michael was named senior vice president for strategic development, overseeing strategic planning, acquisitions and divestitures and regulatory policy and Lon Mitchell was continuing as senior vice president and CFO of DENA.

F.T. Webster moved to president and CEO of Duke Capital Partners, Duke’s merchant banking operation, replacing Ladd. Webster had been executive vice president of the unit.
