FERC has given Discovery Gas Transmission LLC a two-month extension of the deadline to complete an expansion that will add four new delivery points to its natural gas pipeline system, increasing its delivery capability into the southern Louisiana pipeline grid by 150,000 Dth/d.

The four additional delivery points in the Discovery Market Expansion project are interconnections with Columbia Gulf Transmission Co., Gulf South Pipeline Co. LP, Tennessee Gas Pipeline Co. and Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Corp. Discovery currently has interconnections only with Texas Eastern Transmission and Bridgeline Gas Distribution LLC in onshore Louisiana.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved the Discovery expansion in May 2004, and gave the company one year to construct the project and place it into service. But “Discovery states that the construction phase of its Market Expansion has encountered delays and that it does not anticipate completing the project until June 2005. Therefore, Discovery requests an extension of time until July 15…to complete the authorized construction, acquisition and leasing associated with its Market Expansion,” according to a letter order issued by FERC’s Office of Energy Projects [CP03-342].
