The energy sector is alive and well, according to Deloitte, which Thursday opened its doors in Houston to the new Deloitte Center for Energy Solutions.

The center, designed to house the consultant’s 500-plus energy professionals, will allow Deloitte to participate in hands-on collaboration with oil and natural gas companies, many of which are headquartered in the state’s largest city.

“Deloitte has spent the past several years making a significant investment in our energy practice,” said Deloitte’s Greg Aliff, U.S. Energy & Resources leader. “Our new Deloitte Center for Energy Solutions is a true milestone in this effort — ensuring that we can provide our energy clients with a host of professional services, from technology integration and operational consulting to our full range of tax, financial advisory and attest services.”

In addition to functioning as a “practical hub for innovative solutions,” Deloitte plans to conduct executive and industry programs, which would include dialogues and roundtables, Aliff said. Among other things the facility houses a derivatives pricing center that will provide clients with detailed information about energy derivatives.

“Our broad ability to address the complex issues facing the oil and gas industry has been the foundation for our double-digit growth in Houston over the last three years,” said Deloitte Vice Chair Anne Taylor, who is based in Houston. “Opening the Deloitte Center for Energy Solutions demonstrates that we recognize the continued opportunities for innovation in this key industry sector.”
