NGI The Weekly Gas Market Report
Duke Energy Field Services (DEFS) began service on its newlyconstructed 12-inch, 42-mile natural gas pipeline, which travelsfrom the company’s Carney processing facility to its KingfisherPlant near Cashion, OK. The company said the line is capable ofmoving 60 MMcf/d.
DEFS said that the new pipeline will increase gas flows fromareas that have been constrained due to lack of gas processingcapacity. With the new capacity, DEFS will be able to consolidateits West Guthrie and West Edmond processing facilities into themore efficient Kingfisher plant. The Kingfisher expansion, scheduled for completion by March, will increase current processingcapacity at the location from 135 MMcf/d to 165 MMcf/d.
“The Kingfisher Plant expansion will accommodate gas volumesfrom West Edmund and West Guthrie as well as excess gas from theCarney area,” said Michael Bradley, senior vice president, Northerndivision. “This project benefits both DEFS and its customers byincreasing efficiencies and providing much needed capacity for thenew gas supplies being developed in this growing area in Oklahoma. While our initial plans called for the closing of the Carney Plantas well, we recognize that the significant production growth in thearea may require that it remain open indefinitely.”
DEFS said it also intends to construct another pipeline inOklahoma by July to further consolidate facilities. The 26 MMcf/dpipeline would travel from DEFS’ Goldsby Processing Plant to itsnearby Mustang and Chitwood facilities south of Oklahoma City. Aportion of production being processed at Chitwood will beredirected to DEFS’ Sholem Plant. Once the expansion is completed, the company said it will be able to close the Goldsby facility alltogether.
