Constellation Energy Group has consolidated three subsidiaries, Alliance Energy Services, Blackhawk Energy Services and Kaztex Energy Management, into the new Constellation NewEnergy-Gas Division, a full-service provider of natural gas supply, transportation and related services to businesses throughout North America. The company said the move would result in operational efficiencies and provide improved brand recognition.

The new division will serve more than 2,700 large commercial, industrial, municipal, LDC and power generation facilities that use more than 250 Bcf/year of gas. Some of its largest customers include 3M Corp., Century Aluminum, Chase Brass, Hanson North America, Hyatt Hotels, Kimberly-Clark, Kmart, Leggett & Platt, National Gypsum and R.R. Donnelley.

“Bringing these three enterprises under one group will no doubt result in significant operational efficiencies and ensures greater strategic alignment for the benefit of our customers,” said Thomas F. Brady, executive vice president of corporate strategy and development for Constellation.

The consolidation is the culmination of a process that started last year when Constellation bought Fellon-McCord & Associates and Alliance Energy Services from Allegheny Energy Inc. Fellon-McCord is the North American energy consulting and management services unit for Constellation Energy, and Alliance Energy is the platform for the corporation to market natural gas supply, transportation and related services. Late last year, Constellation also acquired Kaztex and Blackhawk, both of which market natural gas in the Midwest. Fellon-McCord will continue to provide energy consulting and management services under the Fellon-McCord & Associates Inc. name.

“Combining forces with Constellation NewEnergy, the leading competitive supplier of electricity in the country, enables us to meet virtually all our customers’ energy requirements,” said Andrew F. Fellon, president and CEO of the new division.

Together, Constellation NewEnergy and Constellation NewEnergy-Gas Division supply more than 8,000 MW of peak electricity load and more than 250 Bcf/year of gas to more than 8,000 industrial and commercial customers in the United States and Canada.

Constellation also owns Maryland-based Baltimore Gas and Electric, which serves more than 1.1 million electric and 600,000 natural gas customers throughout Central Maryland. In 2003, the combined revenues of Constellation Energy totaled $9.7 billion.
