Columbia Gulf Transmission Announces New Interconnect with Texas Eastern Transmission
NiSource subsidiary Columbia Gulf Transmission Co. said Wednesday it is planning a new interconnection with Texas Eastern Transmission Co. near the town of Columbia in Adair County, KY. Scheduled for service in the fourth quarter of 2006, the new connection will enable Columbia Gulf to deliver up to 200,000 Dth/d from its Mainline Zone into Texas Eastern’s Zone M-2.
“One of Columbia Gulf Transmission’s key strategic initiatives is increasing the size and number of market outlets available to transportation holders in the Mainline and Onshore rate zones,” said James W. Hart, vice president of marketing for the NiSource Gas Transmission and Storage Group. “This initiative is consistent with our view of the changing gas supply environment in Texas, northern Louisiana, and the Gulf Coast, as well as our commitment to continue to provide our customers with access to premium markets across the country.”
Operated by Duke Energy Gas Transmission, the Texas Eastern Transmission pipeline runs 9,040 miles from the Gulf Coast to the northeastern United States. The line has 6.2 Bcf/d of capacity and 75.1 Bcf of storage.
Columbia Gulf Transmission operates 4,200 miles of natural gas pipeline in Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and Kentucky, connecting producers in the Gulf Coast with markets throughout the eastern United States.
