Colorado’s Democratic Gov. Jared Polis signaled during his recent state of the state address that his administration would continue its work to meet stringent emissions reduction targets.

Some governors are sharing some of their energy strategies in the annual state addresses. Polis, whose state includes the prolific Denver-Julesburg Basin and Niobrara formation, oversees one of the top natural gas- and oil-producing states.

“We have one of the most ambitious strategies in the country to reduce local air pollution from the oil, gas and transportation industries…,” Polis said. The administration plans to revise the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Pollution Reduction roadmap with 40 initiatives targeting emissions from buildings, utilities and upstream activities.
