Colombia’s national oil company Ecopetrol SA is the latest firm to announce operational difficulties because of protests that have roiled the country for almost a month.

The company said the segment worst hit has been natural gas, including natural gas liquids and liquid petroleum gas, principally in the Cuisana and Floreña fields. Oil production has been impacted in the Putumayo, Meta, Arauca and Boyacá departments.

Total production is down to 651,000 boe/d, compared to a first quarter average of 675,000 boe/d.

Refinery throughput has also been impacted because of the lower availability of crude. The company’s Barrancabermeja refinery had seen output of 207,000 b/d so far in May compared to an average output of 225,000 b/d. The Cartagena refinery has been...
