The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) this week denied Cheniere Energy Inc.’s request for an exemption from a reinstated air pollution rule that will now force the company to work toward compliance.

Cheniere spokesperson Eben Burnham-Snyder said the agency’s decision will likely result in “unwarranted expenditures,” but the company does not expect it to have a material financial impact, limit LNG exports or disrupt operations in any way.

“While we strongly disagree with EPA’s decision, we will work with our state and federal regulators to develop solutions that ensure compliance,” he added.
