The native-led Ksi Lisims LNG project has cleared an initial regulatory hurdle by obtaining a 40-year natural gas export license for its planned terminal near Prince Rupert on the northern Pacific coast of British Columbia (BC).

The Canada Energy Regulator (CER) granted the approval for overseas sales of up to 2 Bcf/d to the Ksi Lisims group of Nisga’a Nation, a consortium of Canadian shale gas producers and industry veterans in Western CA Holdco ULC.

While war in the Ukraine and climate change policies have made energy demand and prices unpredictable, the combined and connected gas resources of Canada and the United States still enable additional exports, CER said.
