Canada Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault announced that the cabinet ratified a negative verdict on the $10.6 billion project following the rejection last September by the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (IAAC).

The IAAC echoed conclusions by a Quebec provincial counterpart agency that the Energie Saguenay project’s harmful environmental impact would exceed economic gains in its plan to export up to 1.4 Bcf/d of Alberta and British Columbia production.
