Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper is joining the bipartisan Raise the Bar, Protect Our Constitution initiative, which aims to make it more difficult to amend the state’s constitution. The initiative would require ballot initiative proponents to gather signatures from 2% of all registered voters in the 35 senate districts as the threat of more anti-fossil fuel ballot measures looms (see Shale Daily, May 27; Daily GPI, May 13). Raise the Bar head strategist Kate Roberts said political acrimony was at a “full boil,” making it necessary to “make it more difficult for special interest groups to amend the constitution.”
