Commissioner Linda Breathitt announced that Jennifer Shepherd, a four-year veteran of FERC, has been named technical advisor of her staff.

Shepherd, who has been at the Commission since 1997, most recently worked in FERC’s Office of Markets, Tariffs and Rates, where she advised on California and West-wide market mitigation. She was an analyst in the Office of Litigation prior to that. She joins Breathitt’s Technical Advisor Christopher A. John and Legal Advisor Mary E. Benge.

Breathitt further noted that she has reorganized her office for both electric and natural gas matters to “better [reflect] the realities of the marketplace and the workload of the Commission.” This new arrangement, she believes, will make it easier for her to draw upon her staff’s expertise in restructuring natural gas markets as the Commission moves forward with its “ambitious” electric policy agenda.

The reorganization follows the departure of Michael Alexander, who left Breathitt’s staff last month to join Cinergy Corp.’s office in Washington DC.
