Under the agreements, BP Energy, a subsidiary of BP Corporation North America, will supply gas to both plants, which together can consume as much as 330 MMcf/d. BP Energy also will coordinate marketing the power output from the plants. Texas Independent will continue as operator.

The Guadalupe facility has been in full operation since January 2001, while the Odessa plant has been in full operation since August 2001. Both participate in ERCOT, the Texas grid operator. Texas Independent is a joint venture of PSEG Global Inc., Panda Energy International Inc. and a subsidiary of TECO Power Services.
