From the Midwest to the Pacific Coast, investor-owned utilities Black Hills Corp. and NW Natural have shored up renewable natural gas (RNG) and investments in the biofuel over the first three months of the year.

Days before hosting the first quarter conference call, NW Natural Holdings Co. CEO David Anderson said the company opened its second RNG facility in Dakota City, NE, with Tyson Foods Inc. He said the utility continues “aggressively pursuing additional opportunities so we can increase our use of renewables over time.”

Including this facility’s 0.24 MMBtu/year of RNG production capacity, NW has completed more than 2.34 MMBtu/year in RNG procurement contracts with companies that include Anew LLC and BP Products North America
