BC Premier David Eby described the C$3.2 billion ($2.4 billion) project as an “unprecedented opportunity” for Haisla and its northern neighbors. A regulatory agreement transferred federal authority over Cedar to the province.

Haisla Councillor Crystal Smith called the approval a “historic milestone” toward tribal economic independence. “Together with our partner Pembina Pipeline, we are setting a new standard for responsible and sustainable energy development that protects the environment and our traditional way of life.”
