Jamison Cocklin

Jamison Cocklin joined the staff of NGI in November 2013 to cover the Appalachian Basin. He was appointed Senior Editor, LNG in October 2019, and then to Managing Editor, LNG in February 2024. Prior to joining NGI, he worked as a business and energy reporter at the Youngstown Vindicator, covering the regional economy and the Utica Shale play. He also served as a city reporter at the Bangor Daily News and did freelance work for the Associated Press. He has a bachelor's degree in journalism and political science from the University of Maine.

Fire at Consol Energy Site in Pennsylvania Contained Quickly

Environmental Group Keeps Up Fight to Stop Leases In PA Forests

Just hours after Gov. Another Study Finds Appalachian Water Use, Underground Injection Volumes Increasing

A recently released study by the FrackTracker Alliance shows that water use and wastewater generated from horizontal hydraulic fracturing (fracking) has dramatically increased in the Appalachian Basin since 2010, leading to a corresponding increase in the use of Class II underground injection wells, especially in Ohio.

University of Delaware Cancels Plans for NatGas Power Plant

After facing strong opposition from students, faculty and nearby residents who maintained a fossil fuel plant did not coincide with the school’s mission to reduce its carbon footprint, the University of Delaware has scrapped plans for a 279 MW co-generation power plant that would have burned natural gas.
