MADRID (ICIS) – Spot LNG prices in Asia rose on 30 June but remained at a discount to the European TTF, following the highest TTF front-month price since 9 March.

Russian pipe gas flows to Europe fell again and will likely remain heavily curtailed over the coming weeks. This was a key driver behind price rises at the ICIS TTF which in turn lifted the ICIS East Asia Index (EAX) back to prices last seen in March.

News that the outage at Freeport LNG in the US will last longer than initially expected drove up the ICIS European TTF gas benchmark due to lower expected US exports. The ICIS East Asia Index (EAX) also climbed, underscoring its close ties to Europe’s prices.

The spread between the European TTF and the East Asia Index (EAX) further narrowed in the past two weeks, as Asian demand rose, especially in south Asia and Japan. The market saw a flurry of Asian tenders for summer deliveries, narrowing the price spread.

MADRID (ICIS) –The spread between TTF and Asian prices narrowed slightly in the seven days to 26 May, as the ICIS TTF dropped slightly while the East Asia Index (EAX) rose on regional demand rallies.

LONDON (ICIS) – LNG pricing highlights this week were largely characterized by big rises in the US Henry Hub price, driven by tight supply and a lack of new production indicators ahead of summer demand.

European TTF prices opened down on Thursday morning after a strong start to the week triggered by news that Russia would stop pipeline gas exports to Poland and Bulgaria.
