Eagle to Provide Hub Services for Guardian Shippers

Eagle Energy Partners, an energy services and marketing company that was started earlier this summer and is chaired by former Dynegy CEO Chuck Watson, has signed an agreement to sell FERC-approved tariff hub services for Guardian Pipeline to third parties. The services will include firm and interruptible aggregation and wheeling as well as parking and lending. The agreement was effective on Monday. Terms were not disclosed.

"Our objective in selecting Eagle is to ensure that our customers maintain access to adequate supplies at market prices, enabling Guardian to continue to provide maximum reliability to our customers and remain competitive," said Rich Gielecki, president of Guardian. The pipeline has capacity to transport up to 750,000 Dth/d of gas about 142 miles to markets in southern Wisconsin from interconnections with Alliance, Northern Border, Midwestern, Natural Gas Pipeline Co. and ANR at the Chicago Hub near Joliet, IL.

According to Griff Jones, Eagle's CEO, the agreement with Guardian should increase liquidity into the pipeline and provide "improved efficiencies for Guardian's customers. We have expertise in logistics that complements Guardian's physical system, thereby maximizing transaction values for all parties," he said.

Eagle began operations in June with a staff of natural gas and power experts, some of whom, including Watson and Eagle President Cliff Hare, came over from Dynegy. In addition to its 24-hour power marketing operation, Eagle offers asset-management services for electric cooperatives, municipals and independent power producers, and also manages natural gas supply procurement, transportation and marketing logistics for its customers in the gas business.

Guardian is a partnership of three energy companies: Wisconsin Energy Corp., Viking Gas Transmission and WPS Resources Corp.
