Former Halliburton Co. manager Anthony Badalamenti has been sentenced to one year of probation, 100 hours of community service and a $1,000 fine for destroying evidence related to BP plc‘s Macondo well blowout in 2010. He had faced up to one year in prison after pleading guilty to one misdemeanor count (see Daily GPI, Sept. 23, 2013). Badalamenti was the director of cementing technology for Halliburton Energy Services Inc., BP’s cement contractor for the well. During a post-spill review, prosecutors said he instructed two fellow employees to delete relevant data on the cement job. In a deal with the U.S. Department of Justice, Halliburton pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge related to his conduct, agreeing to pay a $200,000 fine (see Daily GPI, July 29, 2013).
