AGL Resources is capitalizing on the experience gained in theprecedent-setting unbundling of its Atlanta Gas Light subsidiary,organizing a separate partnership to offer all the services acompany will need to move into the competitive market.

AGL owns a majority of Utilipro, which is partnering with asextet of companies to provide bundled customer care services inthe newly deregulated Georgia market. Companies signing on withUtilipro are First Union Corp., Equifax, Dun and Bradstreet, IBM,Travelers Express, and Systems &amp Computer Technology Corp.(SCT). Services include credit scoring, billing, and remittanceprocessing.

“This team allows marketers to build their customer servicereputation on the backs of solid, best-in-class, industry leaders,”said Utilipro President Mike Foley.

First Union will handle payment processing for Utilipro. Dun&amp Bradstreet will provide credit information on commercialaccounts in the United States. Dun &amp Bradstreet collects andmaintains information on more than 11 million businesses in theU.S. Equifax will provide credit scoring for residential customers.IBM will provide customer statement printing and mailing services.Travelers Express will provide walk-in payment locations in theUnited States. SCT has licensed its Banner customer managementsystem to Utilipro.

Utilipro recently signed a letter of intent with Direct EnergyMarketing Limited (DEML), Canada’s largest independent gasmarketing company, and Apollo Gas Inc. (AGI), a subsidiary ofApollo Gas Income Fund, to directly bill customers for gas andenergy-related services in Canada. Utilipro opens its Canadianoffice in Toronto, Ontario in January 1999.
