PG&E Vice President Kearney Dies
Joseph P. Kearney, 52, a leading figure in the energy servicesindustry responsible for building the nation’s largest independentelectric generation producer, died of an apparent heart attackwhile in Washington, D.C., Oct. 3 to attend a charity dinner forthe Lombardi Cancer Research Foundation.
Kearney served as senior vice president for PG&E Corp. andwas also president and CEO of two of the corporation’snon-regulated subsidiaries-U.S. Generating Co. (USGen) and PG&EGas Transmission Corp. Kearney built an impressive record duringalmost three decades in the energy business. He developedindustry-leading expertise in the financial, managerial andtechnical aspects of power generation and natural gas pipelineassets. Kearney had worked in the private power industry since itsinception.
“All of us at PG&E Corporation are deeply saddened by thistragic news,” said PG&E Corp. CEO Robert D. Glynn Jr. “Joe wasa good friend, fine colleague, and a loving husband and father. Ourthoughts and prayers are with his wife, Michele, and his son,Michael.”
