In apologizing to customers for unexpected reductions in capacity on the Baja Path over the holiday weekend (see the bulletin board for details), Pacific Gas and Electric‘s California Gas Transmission (CGT) system said in addition to planned maintenance, it discovered an excessive amount of odorant in a section of Line 300B late May 25. Operations personnel have been working to isolate and purge the overodorized gas and expected to have this situation resolved Wednesday (June 1), CGT said.

Questar said it will lift Thursday an OFO restricting imbalance paybacks to the pipeline and will begin accepting in-kind imbalance payback both to and from the pipeline. Questar also reported being on schedule to complete repairs at Greasewood Compressor Station by the start of Thursday’s gas day, and as a result nominations to TransColorado and White River Hub would return to normal effective with the Timely cycle.

Noting that during the past 45 days it has encouraged receipts in northern Ohio in order to fill storage in that area in preparation for next winter’s operations, Columbia Gas (TCO) said those actions were prompted “by the fact that receipts at Paulding, Monclova and Maumee, among others, are well below historical levels.” However, the efforts to encourage “much-needed supply” at those points have not been successful, TCO said in declaring a “pre-OFO” effective Friday in Operating Areas 5 and 7. See the bulletin board for information on pre-OFO conditions and what could prompt an actual OFO in the future.

Gulfstream canceled Wednesday the high-linepack Operations Advisory it had issued a week earlier.

Southwest Gas plans pipeline maintenance at various times from June through August, making system modifications in anticipation of a late fall in-line inspection pigging project. These modifications will include the installation of pig launchers and receivers and other system improvements. Southwest said transportation customers impacted by this work should plan on scheduling all or some portion of their gas supplies from Transwestern or El Paso until the work is complete. The actual dates of the pig runs have not yet been determined, but will most likely take place in late October and early November, Southwest said.
