Bear Paw Energy LLC, a unit of ONEOK Partners LP, told the North Dakota Public Service Commission (PSC) that it plans to construct a 100 MMcf/d gas processing plant in McKenzie County, ND.

“The Garden Creek Gas Plant will be a 100 MMcf/d cryogenic gas processing plant designed to process rich Bakken gas production currently being developed in eastern McKenzie County and southwestern Mountrail County,” Bear Paw said in a letter of intent filed at the PSC. “Gas will be gathered through Bear Paw’s low-pressure gas gathering system and will be compressed at field compressor stations (some of which currently exist…)

“…The plant is designed to recover approximately 25,000 b/d of NGLs [natural gas liquids]. The NGLs will be delivered via pipeline to Bear Paw’s Riverview rail terminal near Sydney, MT, where the product will be transported via rail car or pipeline to various fractionation facilities.”

Residue gas production from Garden Creek is to be delivered into Northern Border Pipeline, Bear Paw said.

Construction of the plant, which is estimated to cost $150-175 million, is expected by Bear Paw to begin this month and be completed by late November 2011. Processing of gas at the plant is expected to begin in December 2011.

ONEOK Partners in April said it would commit more than $400 million for new growth projects in the Bakken Shale (see Daily GPI, July 27; April 22). Included in its growth plans is the construction of Garden Creek.
