Tennessee declared a force majeure event late Thursday for meters on the West Delta 527A-300 line due to the need to repair a leak. Operators of the Venice, West Delta 58C and West Delta 58D meters were required to shut in until further notice. Tennessee also said Friday it was lifting a force majeure that had been declared Sept. 30, 2005 as a result of Hurricane Rita.

Florida Gas Transmission kept an Overage Alert Day that had been initiated Wednesday in effect through at least Friday, but tightened the tolerance for negative daily imbalances from 25% to 20%.

Calling the event beyond its control, Columbia Gas said Friday a force majeure situation had developed involving a mechanical failure of the #2 unit at Grant Compressor Station in Mingo County, WV. It required the immediate shut-in until further notice of 15% of firm production upstream of the Boldman, KA Low, and Line P internal constraints. Columbia also warned shippers of the potential for an OFO because the pipeline had recently experienced lower than normal pressures on its Lines 1278 and 10110 in Market Area 23. “This low-pressure problem was created by shippers’ excessively high hourly rates at MLI 72-23,” the pipeline said. See the bulletin board for a list of actions that Columbia said shippers could take to reduce the possibility of an OFO.

Southern Natural Gas on Monday will begin replacing a section of its 14-inch diameter Chattanooga Branch Line just upstream of Rome Compressor Station in Georgia due to a Department of Transportation class location change. The line will be out of service for seven to 10 days, and capacity for points downstream of the outage will be reduced by about 120,000 Dth/d. This line repair constitutes an event of force majeure, Southern said. It may be necessary to reduce all IT and and possibly FT on a pro rata basis in Group 13-East Tennessee Group and for most points in Group 4-Chattanooga Group, the pipeline added.

Southern California Gas said it will remove and replace three existing discharge valves on main units #11, #13 and #15 at Blythe Compressor Station Wednesday, and Plant 2 will be isolated during the units’ shutdown. The work will cause a border capacity loss of 360 MMcf/d at Ehrenberg for that gas day.

Questar has scheduled Wednesday maintenance at Payson Gate Station that will reduce ML 80 capacity to 200,000 Dth/d. Based on nominations for last Thursday, this represents a 53% reduction of tier 2 (in the path to primary) nominations, Questar said. The one-day work Wednesday will replace the previously scheduled dates of April 23-26 and reduce the downtime from four days to one, it added.

Transco will conduct smart pig operations Wednesday on 79 miles of Main Line A from Compressor Station 40 near Sour Lake, TX to Compressor Station 45 near Lake Charles, LA. The pig run will take place across two gas days but on one calendar day, Transco said. In order to insure accurate pigging information, the pipeline will limit physical receipts and deliveries for gas flowing downstream of Compressor Station 40 for the Tuesday and Wednesday gas days. See the bulletin board for details.
