FERC enforcement authorities Thursday said they planned to conduct audits of four regulated natural gas companies to determine if they are in compliance with certain agency regulations.

In separate letters, FERC’s Divisions of Audits and Office of Enforcement informed Honeoye Storage Corp., Freebird Gas Storage LLC, Egan Hub Storage LLC and Gulf South Pipeline Co. LP of their intention to carry out the audits.

The audits will explore “whether and how” the companies are complying with the reporting requirements for interstate pipelines, the requirements for filing statements and reports, and waivers of the shipper-must-have-title policy, FERC said. The reviews will cover the period from Jan. 1, 2006 through the present.

Each company will be required to “furnish, within reasonable time frames, any information which the Commission may require,” as well as grant “agents of the Commission free access to its property, accounts, records and memoranda,” the letters said. Documents and information obtained by FERC staff during the audits will not be made public, the agency noted.

It could not be immediately learned whether these are routine audits, and if more audits of natural gas companies are planned.
