A unit of Williams said Wednesday it is holding a nonbinding open season from March 21 to May 23 for a project that will enhance the existing Eminence Storage Service on its Transco pipeline. The Eminence gas storage facility is located in Covington County, MS.

New service from the Eminence Storage Service Enhancement Project is anticipated to be available as early as the fall of 2009, subject to approval by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

“This storage project is designed to improve our existing Eminence Storage Service customers’ ability to utilize their storage capacity,” said Phil Wright, president of Williams’ gas pipeline business. “The enhanced service will allow them greater flexibility to respond to changing supply, market and pricing conditions.

“In addition, storage continues to be an advantage to customers during supply interruptions such as hurricanes, which makes this type of enhanced service even more beneficial,” Wright said.

Plans for the project involve adding horsepower to increase injection capability. The existing storage facility consists of a total of 15 Bcf of capacity, providing customers with up to two injection/withdrawal cycles per year. The enhancement project is designed to allow customers to use up to six injection/withdrawal cycles annually.

The capital cost of the project will be determined based on the results of the open season. For customer inquiries, contact Toi Anderson at (713) 215-4540 or Nancy Hargrove at (713) 215-2926.
