Columbia Gas said Wednesday’s gas day will be deemed a “Critical Day” in Market Areas 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 28, 29, 30, 31, 33 and 34. Based on forecasted markets, available facilities and capacity utilization, Columbia projected that all available capacity in those areas will be required to meet firm service obligations, and thus zero nonfirm capacity will be available. Shippers with primary firm or secondary priority rights will not be impacted.

Southern Natural Gas reported experiencing an unscheduled outage of a Dearmanville Compressor Station unit, one of four compressors responsible for pumping gas northward on the Chattanooga Line, which is connected to Southern’s North System. As of Tuesday morning the duration of the outage was unknown, Southern said, but based on modeling data, it expected an associated capacity reduction of around 30 MMcf/d. Until the unit is repaired, it is “highly likely” that shippers will see reductions in B1 and IT interruptible services, the pipeline added.

Southern California Gas began maintenance projects Tuesday at its Aliso Canyon storage facility that will last until March 15 and restrict injection capacity. The biggest capacity loss of 315 MMcf/d is being caused by annual TDC (turbine-driven compressor) maintenance and an engine changeout of the K26 unit. Another 20 MMcf/d limitation is in effect from relocating the prelube pumps and installing new strainers on all the KVSs one at a time. KVS is a reciprocating compressor model, a spokeswoman explained.
