A nonaffiliated worker was killed when ANR experienced a pipe rupture about 10 a.m. EST Tuesday in Cass County, MI. The blast occurred on a 24-inch diameter tie line connecting the Bridgman, La Grange and Defiance compressor stations, said a spokesman for ANR parent firm El Paso Corp. There was no fire, but an employee of Midwest Energy Cooperative who was doing work in the vicinity was fatally injured, he added. An investigation is under way. There was no service impact.

Another El Paso Corp. pipeline subsidiary, Southern Natural Gas, had a leak in a 1-inch diameter pipe at the Toca Compressor Station that closed about a two-mile stretch of highway in St. Bernard Parish, LA for less than two hours Monday morning. There were no fires or injuries involved in this incident. The station was back in service by about 7 p.m. CST that evening, the spokesman said. The leak caused an indeterminate amount of service impact, he said. Normally about 25 people work at the station. St. Bernard Parish was one of the worst-devastated areas flooded by Hurricane Katrina, and few of its former residents have returned.

Southern also said it reduced nominations at three offshore Louisiana meters effective with Intraday 1 scheduling Tuesday until further notice. The points are (operators in parentheses) Viosca Knoll 989 (BP), Main Pass 313 (Chevron) and Main Pass 313 (Chevron Redelivery). “An investigation is under way to determine what has happened related to these points,” and the next update will be posted Thursday afternoon around 4 p.m., Southern said.

Gulf South said scheduled maintenance at the Jackson (MS) Compressor Station has been extended through Saturday. The pipeline previously expected the work to last six days when it began Dec. 11. Station capacity could be affected by as much as 125 MMcf/d.
