Panhandle Energy said an open season for expansion of the Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line Co. generated requests for more than 1 Bcf of firm transportation capacity.

“Open season participants were a healthy mix of producers, utilities, end users and marketers who submitted bids representing solid, realistic expectations of terms and conditions for the expansion,” said Panhandle Energy COO Rob Bond.

Panhandle will refine the scope of its project based on results of the nonbinding open season and begin working with shippers. Several have asked to submit late responses, and the company will accommodate them according to open season guidelines, Panhandle said.

The open season was announced in December (see Daily GPI, Dec. 7, 2005). At the time the company said it could provide up to 750 MMcf/d of incremental capacity from the pipe’s field zone through the Midwest to Michigan. In-service could be early 2008. Those interested in Panhandle capacity should contact Coralie Carter Sculley, 713-989-7646.
