Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line (Transco) said Monday it is holding an open season to test market interest in the Sentinel Expansion Project, which would provide additional firm transportation capacity for gas entering the system from the Pleasant Valley receipt point, the Leidy Hub or any other receipt points downstream of those locations. The open season ends Dec. 2.

The 200,000-300,000 Dth/d of additional firm capacity is expected to become available in November 2008, subject to Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approval.

“This project will provide the northeastern United States with access to additional imported LNG being brought to the region,” said Phil Wright, senior vice president of Williams’ natural gas pipeline business. “Our Transco pipeline has excellent access to growth markets and is well positioned to transport these incremental supplies.”

The final project size, location of facilities and cost will be determined by the results of the open season. Pleasant Valley is the receipt point for gas entering Transco from the Cove Point pipeline, which delivers regasified LNG from the Cove Point terminal in Lusby, MD. The gas can then be transported to numerous storage fields near Leidy or to multiple other pipelines that interconnect at the Leidy Hub in Pennsylvania.

Shippers must complete and return a transportation service request by Dec. 2. For details contact Hector Alatorre at (713) 215-4256 or Nancy Hargrove at (713) 215-2926.
