A unit of Williams last Monday announced a 15-year, full requirements power agreement with Georgia-based Jackson Electric Membership Corp. (EMC) to manage Jackson Electric’s existing power resources and load obligation, representing requirements of 1,100 MW in Georgia.

“Our agreement with Jackson EMC, the third largest EMC in the U.S., represents our fourth full-requirements contract with Georgia EMCs this year,” said Bill Hobbs, president of Williams’ energy marketing and trading unit. Williams will begin serving Jackson Electric’s power requirements starting Oct. 1. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Hobbs noted that Williams’ growing southeast supply portfolio, including the Tenaska Lindsay Hill generating station in Alabama and a recently announced power generation facility in development near Atlanta, would serve as support for the load contracts of the new EMCs. Williams completed a long-term power agreement with Tenaska in January 2000 to supply fuel and market the power from a natural gas-fired facility now under construction and scheduled to be completed in late spring 2002. The newly announced Atlanta power generation facility, currently in the development phase, is planned for operation in 2004.
