Alliant Energy Signs S. Carolina Munis

Through a new partnership with Alliant Energy Industrial Services, the Piedmont Municipal Power Agency, representing 10 municipal utilities in South Carolina, has taken its next step to prepare its members and customers for a competitive electric marketplace.

Alliant will conduct a complete pricing, cost and accounting analysis for the agency and its members to enable them to voluntarily "unbundle" their electric prices --- separating costs of generation, transmission and distribution --- in a major step toward preparing for a competitive energy market.

"This initiative is part of Piedmont Power's ongoing work, analyzing our services and prices, to be sure we are prepared for customer choice," said Todd Kilsdonk, Piedmont Power Director of Business Development. "In the meantime, these initiatives help us provide customers with more flexible rates, greater pricing options and lower costs for their electricity. We want to be sure we're doing all we can to help our customers keep a lid on their energy costs."

Alliant Energy Industrial Services is the non-utility energy and environmental subsidiary of Alliant Energy, based in Madison, WI.
