Gathering TransCanada has received significant market interest for a 227 MMcf/d expansion of its Nova Gas Transmission system and 216 MMcf/d of its B.C. System. It will make the necessary regulatory filings when it has the signed contracts in hand.

TransCanada had announced it was considering expansions in late February (see NGI, March, 5). It has targeted Nov. 1, 2002 to have the new facilities in service.

TransCanada said it had received inquiries regarding the potential for expansion of new firm delivery service on the NGTL System at the Alberta / British Columbia border and on the B.C. System from A/BC to the interconnect with PG&E GT Northwest (GTN), at Kingsgate B.C./Eastport, Idaho. These inquiries had been driven primarily, but not exclusively, by the GTN open season for additional capacity into the Pacific Northwest, and California. The pipeline said it polled its customers about any capacity they might turn back when existing contracts expire, as well as their expanded needs going forward.
