EnCana Corp. is offering up to C$500,000 for information directly leading to the arrest and prosecution of the party responsible for recent bombings at company facilities in the Tomslake area near Dawson Creek, BC.

“The safety of our workers and the people who live in the communities where we operate is of paramount importance. That’s why we are putting up this reward to help stop these bombings and end the threat that they pose to people in the Dawson Creek area,” said EnCana’s Mike Graham, president of the company’s Canadian Foothills division. “Whoever is responsible for these bombings has to be stopped before someone gets hurt.”

Those with information should contact the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) by:

The RCMP are investigating four bombings that occurred during the past three months, two at pipelines, one at a wellhead and the most recent one, discovered on Jan. 4, at a metering shed on an EnCana well site south of Dawson Creek (see NGI, Jan. 12).

The company has laid out conditions under which a reward will be paid. The reward is not available to EnCana employees or EnCana contract staff or any member of their families or extended families.

Last month RCMP investigators said “mischief” at several well sites in a rural area near Fort St. John, BC — including valves being tampered with and shots fired at structures — did not appear to be related to the EnCana pipeline explosions (see NGI, Dec. 22, 2008). Those incidents occurred at well sites operated by Iteration Energy and Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. An investigation there is being conducted by the Serious Crime Unit of the Fort St. John RCMP Detachment.
