The city of Detroit is seeking bids for delivery of 6 Bcf of natural gas on an annual basis to the citygate of MichCon Gas Co., one of the nation’s largest distributors and subsidiary of DTE Energy Co.

The winning bidder would provide gas service for 26 months, beginning May 1, 2005. The service currently is being supplied by TXU Gas, whose contract is set to expire on May 1.

All bids are to be submitted by 4 p.m. on Feb. 28, and will be publicly opened and read at 2 p.m. on March 1 in the Finance Department Purchasing Division of the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center in Detroit. Questions concerning the bids should be delivered in writing by no later than 4 p.m. on Feb. 15 to Carter Stevenson, principal purchases agent, at 1008 Coleman A. Young Municipal Center, Two Woodward Ave., Detroit, MI 48226, or faxed to (313) 224-4374.

The city will hold a pre-bidding conference on Feb. 16 in the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center, where it will respond to all questions received by the question deadline.
