San Diego-based Sempra Energy has hired Bethany Mayer, an executive partner in the New York-based private equity firm Siris Capital Group LLC and a board member at Sempra, to the newly created position of executive vice president for corporate development and technology, reporting to Sempra CEO Jeffrey Martin. Sempra also promoted the CEO of its Southern California Gas Co. (SoCalGas) utility, Patricia Wagner, to group vice president for U.S. utilities, reporting to Sempra COO Joseph Householder. Mayer resigned her board position in advance of her new assignment, which begins Nov. 26. Wagner assumes her new position on Nov. 17, but will continue her role as CEO of SoCalGas.
