Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Co. LLC’s (Transco) Leidy Southeast Expansion project continued to move forward with FERC’s authorization to commence service on the Pleasant Run Loop Friday.

In a letter to Transco, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved the pipeline’s Oct. 9 request to commence service on the Pleasant Run Loop facilities in Somerset and Hunterdon counties in New Jersey, saying it was in compliance with environmental condition 10 of a FERC order issued last December [CP13-551].

The Pleasant Run Loop is a 6.92-mile, 42-inch diameter natural gas pipeline adjacent to and within the existing right-of-way (ROW) of the existing Leidy A (30-inch diameter) and Leidy B (36-inch diameter ) pipelines.

FERC issued a permit for the pipeline in April (see Daily GPI, April 9). Simultaneously, the Commission issued a permit for a second Leidy Southeast-related project, the Skillman Loop, a 6.36-mile, 42-inch diameter gas pipeline adjacent to and within the existing ROW of the existing Caldwell B (36-inch diameter) loop pipeline in Mercer and Somerset counties in New Jersey.

FERC gave Transco permission to begin partial path service on the proposed Leidy Southeast expansion in late February (see Daily GPI, March 3).

That followed approval by the Commission last December to issue a certificate of public convenience and necessity for the project, which would create an additional 525,000 Dth/d of capacity from Transco’s Leidy line in Pennsylvania as far south as Choctaw County, AL (see Daily GPI, Dec. 18, 2014).
