In the story “Montana Considers Establishing Drilling Setbacks” (see Shale Daily, June 26) it was erroneously reported that two operators for Hess Corp. testified at a state Board of Oil and Gas Conservation hearing June 24. No one working for Hess testified. It was also incorrectly reported that if the state imposes setback requirements landowners would not be able to be compensated by operators. In fact, subsurface royalty owners would be the ones to lose out — not surface owners. NGI regrets the error.
