Columbia Gas Transmission LLC has filed an application with FERC to build a 24-inch diameter natural gas transmission pipeline in West Virginia.

According to documents filed with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission [CP15-87], Columbia proposes to build the Utica Access Pipeline from a new interconnection with Dominion Transmission Inc.’s Cornwell Compressor Station near Corton, WV, to Columbia’s existing Line X-52-M1, near Clendenin. The entire pipeline would measure about five miles and would traverse Clay and Kanawha counties.

Columbia plans to begin construction in late 2015 in order to meet an in-service date for contracted firm transportation service on Nov. 1, 2016. It requested that FERC issue a certificate by Aug. 1.

Columbia said it needs the pipeline to meet the natural gas capacity requirements of an undisclosed shipper, for which Columbia has promised to supply 205,000 Dth/d of firm transportation service.

Columbia is a subsidiary of Columbia Energy Group, which is owned by NiSource Inc.
