Dominion Transmission Inc. has agreed to pay West Virginia more than $55,000 in penalties for violating the Water Pollution Control Act. The fine stems from inspections the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (WVDEP) conducted in 2012 on a stretch of natural gas pipeline the company operates in Marshall County. Regulators found the pipe was slipping and causing sediment deposits in a number of unnamed tributaries. WVDEP has asked the company to correct the problems and remove sediment from the waterways. Similar violations occurred throughout 2013 and this year.
