Alberta Energy Company (AEC) announced plans to expand thestorage capacity managed by its AECO-C storage hub in Alberta by 10Bcf through a conversion of a depleted field at Peace River Arch innorthwestern Alberta to a commercial storage facility. Thedevelopment will add 100 MMcf/d of injection and withdrawalcapability and has the potential for a further expansion, AEC said.

The new facility also will be connected to Nova and the proposedAlliance Pipeline project, which is slated for transportationservice to Chicago in November 2000.

“By integrating this new location in northwestern Alberta withour existing facilities at Suffield, we will be able to offerincremental capacity and additional features to both new andexisting AECO customers, such as upstream injection rights anddirect storage access to the Alliance Pipeline,” said Rick Daniel,vice president of AEC storage and hub services. AEC will beginmarketing the new capacity in next year.
