The Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. (Adnoc) has signed long-term sales agreements to supply two of the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) leading industrial companies with natural gas over the next 10 years as the company aims to boost output and the nation’s economic growth. 

The deals, signed with integrated steel producer Emirates Steel and construction materials company Arkan, align with Adnoc’s strategy to deliver economic gas supply and enable “gas self-sufficiency” by 2030 under goals set forth by the government.

The self-sufficiency target also aligns with the expiration of a gas supply agreement with Qatar in 2032. Qatar currently moves about 2 Bcf/d to the UAE and Oman through the 3.2 Bcf/d Dolphin Energy Pipeline, a subsea system. The pipeline currently supplies about a...
