A unit of Houston-based Genesis Energy LP is holding an open season for its oil pipeline under construction in the Powder River Basin to carry crude supplies to a unit train loading facility near Douglas, WY. Binding commitments are due by July 3.

Powder River Crude Services LP (PRCS) is seeking commitments for its pipeline originating at two receipt points in Campbell County, WY (near Wright) and Converse County (near the town of Bill) for delivering supplies to Genesis’ Pronghorn unit train loading facility.

PRCS said it expects the 60-mile pipeline to be completed in early July. It is soliciting long-term binding commitments from shippers.

Genesis’ Pronghorn facility includes a double-loop design with sufficient rail track to accommodate two 118-tank car trains simultaneously. “The facility has a flexible 14-car loading system capable of loading a single train in less than 24 hours,” a Genesis spokesperson said.

The target loading time for the Pronghorn facility is 15-18 hours, and it is designed to be expanded to load two trains during the same period of time, the spokesperson said. Pronghorn has been operating since late 2013.
