Vector Pipeline has opened a new 100 MMcf/d interconnection with Guardian Pipeline, providing Vector shippers with access to Wisconsin markets and new supply via other pipelines. The new interconnect, which is expandable to 400 MMcf/d, is located near Joliet in Will County, IL.

“This interconnection offers Vector shippers and storage providers access to Wisconsin markets via Guardian,” said Vector President Craig R. Fishbeck. “Additionally, Vector’s shippers will now have access to additional supplies off other pipelines, such as Midwestern Gas Transmission and Natural Gas Pipeline of America, by utilizing Guardian’s hub services.”

Guardian President Richard Gielecki said the interconnection with Vector also gives natural gas markets in southern Wisconsin competitive access to alternative storage providers in Michigan and Ontario. The 42-inch Vector Pipeline transports primarily western Canadian natural gas from the Chicago hub to Dawn, ON, providing access to markets and storage in the upper Midwest and eastern Canada. Vector is a joint venture between Enbridge and DTE Energy.

Guardian is a partnership of Wisconsin Energy, WPS Resources and Viking Gas Transmission. The 142-mile pipeline from Joliet to Ixonia, WI, has 750,000 Dth/d of capacity.
