Columbia Gas Transmission LLC said in an update to shippers that the damaged Leach XPress line in Marshall County, WV, isn’t likely to return to service until the middle of this month.

Repair work continues after the line exploded early last month, knocking out service on the 1.5 Bcf/d system. TCO said last week that inclement weather has “created challenging conditions during our remediation process,” referring to the heavy rainfall that has plagued much of the region this summer.

Based on the current work schedule, TCO said service would be pushed back from its initial estimate of early July. The U.S. Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration is investigating the cause of the incident.

Leach XPress came online in January to expand TCO and move Appalachian natural gas primarily to the Southeast and Gulf Coast via an interconnect with the broader system and TransCanada’s Rayne XPress project, which entered service last year.
